Job summary
To oversee the efficient and secure management of patient medical records within the Trust maintaining two medical records libraries in Taunton and Yeovil.
This role involves ensuring that medical records are accurately maintained, easily accessible, and securely stored in compliance with legal and regulatory standards.
The Medical Records Manager supports clinical staff by providing timely access to patient information, which is crucial for delivering high-quality patient care.
Additionally, they are responsible for implementing and updating policies and procedures related to medical records management, supervising a team of records staff, and utilising data analytics to improve service delivery.
Ultimately, the Medical Records Manager plays a vital role in safeguarding patient information and enhancing the overall efficiency of healthcare operations.
Main duties of the job
To manage the medical records service across two sites at Priorswood and Yeovil serving Musgrove Park Hospital, Yeovil District Hospital and the community hospitals across Somerset
There are approximately 25 staff across both sites with the two sites currently using different core patient administration systems.
The main role will be to:
- Management of staff including recruitment, appraisal, sickness monitoring and capability monitoring
- Coordination of the daily operations of the medical records libraries, ensuring compliance with NHS standards and regulations.
- Plan and manage the allocation of resources to meet service demands.
- Monitor and analyse data related to medical records management to identify trends and areas for improvement.
- Prepare regular reports on the performance of the medical records service, including key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Ensure the confidentiality, security, and accessibility of patient records.
