Band 5 Dietitian

The closing date is 30 September 2025

Job summary

Are you recently qualified as a Dietitian or due to qualify and wishing to consolidate your dietetic experience?

We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic Band 5 Dietitian to join our team based at Yeovil District Hospital. We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Dietitian with excellent communication and team working skills. You will need to be applying for or HCPC registered as a Dietitian.

We welcome final year student applications. Tailored employment options allow you to commence in post as a Band 4 Dietetic Assistant Practitioner until you receive your HCPC registration.

You will be joining our Dietetic team to help deliver a service to a range of adult inpatient wards as well as supporting outpatient services. As we are an integrated service, there are opportunities to work across both acute and community settings.

We are a very friendly, hardworking and supportive team and would love to welcome you to join us!

What we can offer you:

* The opportunity to work in a supportive environment to build on your training and gain further experience.

* Opportunities to develop core clinical skills for ongoing dietetic practice.

* Supported learning opportunities in specialty areas through training and supervised practice with our specialist Dietitians.

* Supportive preceptorship programme for all newly qualified staff.

Main duties of the job

Based at Yeovil District Hospital, you will be part of the Adult Acute Dietetic Team working together to provide a dietetic service to designated adult inpatient wards including stroke and acute medicine, surgery and gastroenterology and oncology. You will also deliver a regular outpatient clinic with support from a supervising Dietitian. As well as your work with patients there will be opportunities to be involved in departmental initiatives, service development and the provision of education and training for patients and staff.

Across the wider Dietetic Department, opportunities are also available to gain experience with Specialist Dietitians in areas such as Parenteral Nutrition, Critical Care, Diabetes, Paediatrics, Weight Management and Bariatrics.

You will have access to regular supervision and have opportunities to undertake continuing professional development through work shadowing, competency frameworks and courses as identified by your training needs and objectives.
