Job summary
We are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Medical Secretary to join the team on Rowan Ward 2, a newly refurbished, 15-bedded acute mental health ward for working-age adults. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a dynamic, supportive team where you will play a vital role in providing a comprehensive administrative and secretarial service to the Consultant Psychiatrist and wider medical team.
This post is well-suited to someone who enjoys a varied role, is highly organised, and thrives in a busy environment. You will also be responsible for the day-to-day supervision and support of administration colleagues, helping to maintain the high standards of service delivery.

Main duties of the job
Provide high-quality secretarial and administrative support to the Consultant and medical team.
Supervise and support lower banded administration staff, ensuring efficient daily operations.
Organise and coordinate the Consultant's diary, clinical reviews, and multi-disciplinary meetings.
Prepare and manage clinical documentation, including letters, reports, and summaries, often of a sensitive nature.
Respond to telephone, email, and face-to-face enquiries from patients, carers, and professionals with tact and professionalism.
Maintain accurate patient records and ensure systems (including RiO) are kept up to date.
Arrange and support recruitment, induction, appraisals, and supervision within the administration team.
Act as a key contact for internal teams and external partners including GP practices and social services.
Use initiative to independently manage workload, prioritise tasks, and resolve administrative issues as they arise.
