Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Tissue Viability Nurse Specialist (Band 7) to support the Tissue Viability Team in the Acute setting, at Musgrove Park Hospital.This is an ideal opportunity for a successful candidate to extend on existing skills and further develop their knowledge and skills within the remit of tissue viability in a leadership position.Following the recent integration of Somerset NHS Foundation Trust and Yeovil District Hospital; this is a great time to join this specialism, as we look to transform tissue viability provision across the healthcare system in Somerset.The successful candidate would ideally have experience of elements of the healthcare environments within Somerset and the systems used.As an independent worker, excellent communication and organisational skills are key to achieving the high standard of evidence-based care expected by Somerset NHS Foundation Trust.This is a 37.5 hours per week post.
Main duties of the job
This includes:
* Contribute to the operational leadership, management and ongoing development of the Tissue Viability Service.
* To deputise and represent the Tissue Viability Service at key meetings/events, as required.
* Assist the Lead Nurse in the attainment of agreed targets and performance.
* To support patients in an Acute setting, by providing specialist advice and support to healthcare professional in their care and management of patients with complex wounds and other tissue viability issues.
* To provide advice and guidance on use of pressure relieving equipment and pressure ulcer preventative strategies for complex patients.
* To signpost colleagues to other specialist services in line with the needs of the patient and to utilise appropriate clinical pathways.
* To ensure appropriate onward referrals to optimise the patient's health outcomes.
* Work flexibly across the Trust, as required.
