Job summary
The role of the Nursing Associate is to work with the multi professional team and the Registered Nurse to assess, plan organize and deliver clinical care in line with service and patient needs, as agreed with supervising clinicians Using the breadth of knowledge across fields of nursing the Nursing Associate will provide holistic and person centered care and support for people of all ages and in a variety of settings. The Nursing Associate will work independently under the leadership of Registered Nurses, working within the sphere of nursing care and within all aspects of the nursing process (Health Education England 2018).
An Assistant Practitioner works under the supervision of a Nursing Associate in accordance with Trust policy, protocols, and standard operating procedures. The Nursing Associate remains accountable for the appropriate and effective delegation of activities and must ensure that the Assistant Practitioner has the competency, confidence, and expertise to carry out such activities. Having accepted the activity, the Assistant Practitioner is accountable for their actions. In a situation where the Assistant Practitioner feels they do not have the necessary skills or ability then they must alert the Nursing Associate immediately.
You'll need to be a car driver with your own vehicle to visit patients in their own homes. We offer a generous mileage allowance to cover the use of your car for NHS business, which includes both mileage and depreciation.
Main duties of the job
As a Nursing Associate you will have the roles, responsibilities and accountabilities of:
*To be responsible for providing the appropriate nursing evidence-based care of an allocated group of patients.
*Be an accountable professional who is responsible for their actions, working in line with NMC standards of proficiency.
*Recognise and work within the limits of their competency.
*To work as part of a multidisciplinary team using resources efficiently.
*To deliver quality care to patients and to work effectively within the nursing team.
*To be competent in carrying out a variety of clinical procedures.
As an Assistant Practitioner you will have a basic understanding of:
*the principles and philosophy of health and social care.
*the physiology, organisation and function of the human body.
*lifespan developments and healthcare needs.
*research and development in the health and social care sector to inform and improve quality of care.
*provision and promotion of holistic person-centred care and support, duty of care and safeguarding of individuals;
*the importance of the strategic environment in health and social care and the implications for the individual.
*the importance of current evidence-based practice within scope of the role.
