Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen within Resuscitation Services for a full-time Resuscitation Officer.

This varied role focuses on resuscitation, deteriorating patient and emergency response training for all levels of staff, and includes supporting the wider Clinical Skills team with organisation and delivery of a variety of clinical skills training. This role is ideal for a healthcare professional with significant recent acute clinical experience, who has a passion for teaching and supporting colleagues.

The Band 6 role requires Resuscitation Council UK Advanced Life Support Instructor qualification, but the right applicant could be fully supported to obtain this qualification if they do not hold it (subject to pre-agreement).

The primary work-base will be in Musgrove Park Hospital, but the teams also teach in Bridgwater and Yeovil Hospital, and visits community, minor injury/urgent treatment, and mental health settings to provide expert training, advice and support. The post holder will have a flexible approach to working office hours and will need to be physically able and a car driver, as kit is required to be transported to external training venues.

Main duties of the job

To support the provision of a high-quality resuscitation service across Somerset Foundation NHS Trust, which includes:

  • Organisation and delivery of resuscitation/clinical emergency response training of differing levels within the demographic diversity of the Trust, using both classroom sessions and in situ simulation.
  • Leadership and support to clinical emergencies within acute base site, as part of the 2222 cardiac arrest team.
  • Oversight of emergency equipment used in resuscitation.
  • Facilitation of focused audit within the remit of Resuscitation Services (cardiac arrest, emergency trolley).
  • The implementation of evidence-based practice and quality improvement projects aimed at improving patient safety.
  • Organisation, facilitation, and support of Deteriorating Patient training delivery.
  • Organisation, facilitation, and support of Clinical Skills delivery.
