Job summary
We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic and motivated RGN or RMN to The Dementia Assessment and Support Service (DASS) in Mendip. Based in either Frome or Wells you will cover the Mendip area providing dementia assessments for patients referred to our service. You will undertake assessments, deliver diagnosis and oversee medication trials.
Mendip DASS is a distinct team within the Older Persons' Mental Health Team (OPMH) Mendip and comprises of nurses, an assistant psychologist, a clinical psychologist, a consultant psychiatrist and a support worker. The OPMH sits within the Mendip Neighbourhood where we have close working relations with other services in the neighbourhood.
Mendip OPMH is a small, friendly and supportive team. We aim to support flexible working requests and whilst this post involves working in the community there are also opportunities to work remotely. You will need a valid driving licence and access to a car on a daily basis.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will work as part of the Dementia Assessment and Support Service (DASS) Mendip to provide thorough assessments for patients who are referred due to concerns regarding their memory. The post holder will be able to undertake relevant memory testing and after discussion with senior colleagues may be able to diagnose specific conditions. The post holder will also be responsible for monitoring drugs prescribed for memory conditions and will work with the patient, their family and other professionals to ensure the best outcome for the patient.
Professional knowledge acquired through a Diploma in Nursing or higher qualification is a requirement of this post. The post holder will need knowledge of relevant mental health and community care legislation.
The post holder may be required to work flexibly to meet the needs of the service and must have a valid driving licence and access to a vehicle.
