Job summary
The Lead Quality and Safety Nurse is responsible for promoting the vision and values of Somerset NHS Foundation Trust , demonstrating these values in their leadership and support to teams, and the deliverance of services. The Quality and Safety Lead Nurse will work with he ward or unit managers or Deputy ward managers, nurses clinical leads, matrons and other colleagues to champion and lead on clinical quality and patient safety improvements, inspiring and enabling medical, nursing and allied health and managerial colleagues to develop and maintain quality and safety measures and sustain improvements. They work closely with the Associate Director of Patient care for the Medical Service group, Director of Nursing and Deputy Chief Nurse to ensure safety and compliance and that comprehensive mechanisms are in place to manage and measure quality and, its assurance and improvement, enabling the Trust to excel in achieving its best practice and continuous improvement against national and local standards and ensure that appropriate training is provided to clinical and managerial teams as necessary.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will support the ADPC with all matters relating to Quality and Safety and continue to develop and maintain strong working relationships with other health care providers, Integrated Care Board (ICB, quality leads) CQC relationship managers and other organisations.
They will contribute to the corporate objectives and development of the Trust agenda working as part of a triumvirate alongside the ADPC, Deputy ADPC,Matrons and the Medical Service Group governance team.
This role incorporates the core functions of the Matron role, described in HSC 2001/010 and amplified in Matrons. Improving the Patient's Experience (DH, 2003) the following key roles emerged;
