Job summary
We have an opportunity for a Band 7 Spinal Specialist to join our forward thinking and highly respected MSk Physiotherapy Service. This role involves working within MSK physiotherapy, offering assessment, advice, treatment and support to patients and staff throughout the MSK pathway.
You will be joining a highly motivated team of Band 4 exercise instructors, Band 5s, 6s and clinical specialist band 7s delivering a proactive multidisciplinary approach to a wide range of musculoskeletal conditions. You will work closely with the team and lead on the delivery of consistently high-quality care. You will offer clinical support and supervision to the team as well as leading on the yearly IST programmes and service audits.
You will be part of a network of advanced physiotherapy clinicians. Our highly skilled clinical team can help develop your competencies, provide peer support and professional development. You will work closely with the Spinal Team within the Orthopaedic Assessment Service to develop your knowledge, skills and competencies. You will be given time and the opportunity to develop yourself and the service. JOB plan- 80/20

Main duties of the job
This role will see and treat complex musculoskeletal injuries as an autonomous practitioner.
Undertake clinics within the Musculoskeletal Service assessing new referrals from GP's, consultants and other physiotherapists.
They are able to request appropriate investigations based on their level of competence.
To act as a source of expertise on the management of musculoskeletal conditions as well as providing an advisory service to patients, other physiotherapists, other healthcare professionals and the primary healthcare team including GPs.
To provide the lead role in the supervision, teaching and appraisal of senior, junior and assistant physiotherapy staff and students.
To communicate very complex clinical information both written and verbal, in an easily understood form to patients, carers and all members of the multi-disciplinary team.
To provide the above as part of the Somerset Foundation Trust MSk team service development and pathway design.
