Somerset NHS Foundation Trust is seeking an experienced and dedicated mental health professional to join our Community Mental Health Services in Bridgwater as a Dual Diagnosis Locality Lead.

This is an exciting opportunity to make a tangible difference by leading the implementation of our Dual Diagnosis Strategy at a locality level, supporting colleagues across inpatient and community settings, and delivering high-quality, recovery-focused interventions.

What We're Looking For

  • A registered professional (e.g. RMN, Occupational Therapist, Social Worker or Psychological Therapist) with significant experience in mental health and/or substance misuse services.
  • Expertise in working with individuals with complex presentations and high-risk behaviours.
  • A strong understanding of current national guidance and best practice in dual diagnosis care.
  • The ability to inspire, lead and support colleagues through supervision and training.

Main duties of the job

As the Dual Diagnosis Locality Lead, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and delivering our locality response to individuals with co-occurring needs. You'll bring clinical expertise and a collaborative approach to ensure the highest standards of care and continuity between services.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Leading the assessment, formulation, care planning and treatment of individuals with complex needs, using a psychosocial framework.
  • Acting as a care coordinator and delivering both individual and group-based interventions.
  • Supporting and guiding multidisciplinary teams to deliver psychologically informed, recovery-focused care.
  • Providing expert clinical supervision to staff of various professional backgrounds, ensuring consistent and high-quality interventions.
  • Participating in clinical audits and service evaluations to improve practice and outcomes.
  • Championing safeguarding, patient safety and clinical governance within your locality.

This role involves working closely with operational and clinical leads, as well as external stakeholders, to promote integrated and proactive dual diagnosis care across the Trust. If not already qualified, you will be encouraged to undertake the Non-Medical Prescribing qualification.
