Job summary

The post holder will work within Somerset Psychological Services for Cancer (SPSC), providing a range of high-volume low intensity interventions to cancer patients. The post holder will provide support to patients by face to face, online or telephone. They may also be involved in facilitating courses and webinars.

Main duties of the job

This is a 6 month secondment to work alongside the Operational Manager in Hope Somerset Service.

This is to help set up and deliver an inpatient service and to support caner patients and their significant others with psychological support involving low level intensity intervention

Qualifications

Essential

  • Macmillan or equivalent qualification in HNA and assessment of needs for the cancer patients
  • Level 3 counselling qualification or equivalent

Desirable

  • CBT, mindfullness qualification

Experience

Essential

  • Extensive experience in cancer services
  • Extensive experience in assessment of cancer patient psychological needs
  • Experience of joint working with medical/nursing colleagues
  • Experience of telephone working
  • Experience of project working and leadership/managerial responsibility

Desirable

  • Experience in low level intervention for psychological needs of cancer patients
