This opportunity is for a trainee emergency practitioner in community urgent care. Somerset Foundation Trust has 6 Urgent Treatment Centres and 1 Minor injury Unit all across Somerset. You will be supported through our training program which includes both university courses including APICA, non medical prescribing, x-ray interpretation and MIMIC. The successful candidate will have a mentor and also the support of the clinical leadership team.

Main duties of the job

To provide and maintain a high standard of evidence based, patient centred care. To demonstrate good interpersonal skills and to develop practical skills required within the speciality, whist reflecting the philosophy of care.

The trainee will work alongside registered health care colleagues under the mentorship and clinical supervision of Emergency Nurse Practitioners and Emergency Practitioners. Final year (second year) trainees will be competency assessed and thereafter approved to independently manage agreed groups of patients. On successful completion of the full training programme, the trainee will become an approved autonomous clinical decision-maker, practicing in the field of urgent care. The relevant professional regulatory body, the Nursing Midwifery Council, or the Health & Care Professions Council, will formally amend the trainee's primary registration status to reflect this.
