Job summary
The Maternity Ultrasound bookings and reception has a team of three members of staff booking appointments for Obstetric ultrasound. They are a committed team working together to provide the best possible service to our patients, in a friendly supportive environment. This is a busy role with a high volume of calls and busy reception and would suit a customer care driven individual who is able to use their initiative and can cope with the demands of the service and work effectively as team member.
Main duties of the job
To be responsible on day-to-day basis under guidance and policy, to organise and schedule appointments. Balancing clinical priority, patient needs and service requirements against the need to achieve national waiting time standards.
To book appointments across different sites including Musgrove Park, Bridgwater and Wellington. Appointments are booked via inbound / outbound telephone calls or can be face to face communication with the patients / carer / clinical team or by sending letters. To liaise with modality lead to identify when extra lists are required, or to find spaces for urgent requests when there are no free slots available. To be responsible for the accuracy of patient data they are inputting and ensuring they read all relevant booking information prior to making an appointment. To ensure the patient is given the correct information and that they are given an appropriate appointment. This also includes when required liaising with wards, clinics, and clinicians to arrange appropriate care.
