Would you like to work for one of the top performing Emergency Departments in the country?

We are looking to recruit a Trust Fellow doctor to expand our emergency care function. The post holder will be responsible for the admission, clerking and day to day acute care of their patients in the emergency department, as assigned. This includes patients in the clinical decision unit.

Although this post is not recognised for training, it is offered the same opportunities as our training posts, with access to in-house training and you will be encouraged to attend the weekly academic teaching programme. You will be fully supported by a Clinical Supervisor. The post is designed to offer experience to doctors who wish to perhaps pursue further training in an acute specialty, or wish to obtain/ are working towards an acute specialty membership qualification. A high number of our trust fellow doctors have accessed a national training post having undertaken at least a year in this role with us.

Main duties of the job

Responsible for the admission, clerking and day to day acute care of their patients in the emergency department, as assigned. This includes patients in the clinical decision unit.

To participate in audits and current research projects. These are available through individual Consultants.

To attend the active postgraduate programme with weekly off-the-floor teaching sessions on emergency and acute care. These are part of the weekly timetable.

To contribute to the active journal club. These are part of the weekly timetable.

To participate in the teaching of Foundation Doctors, Acute Care Practitioner trainees, Emergency Nurse Practitioners and Physician Associate trainees, as well as Medical Students at the bedside.

  • * MBBS or equivalent.
  • * ALS / ACLS or have arranged a place on a course within 3 months.
  • * Full GMC Registration with a licence to practice at time of application.
  • * Evidence of ability to analyse and diagnose situations, prioritise and act accordingly
  • * Broad understanding of Emergency Medicine
  • * Completed Foundation Year 1 & Year 2 level in the UK or equivalent
  • * Evidence of working effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • * Evidence of a good standard of Literacy / English language skills
