We are seeking a passionate Neonatal Unit Manager to oversee and drive excellence within our Neonatal Service at Somerset NHS Foundation Trust.
About the Role
As our Neonatal Unit Manager, you will lead, coordinate, and develop all aspects of our neonatal service, ensuring the highest standards of care for babies and their families. You will be an expert in neonatal care, providing strong clinical leadership, supervision, and decision-making, while fostering an environment of continuous improvement.
Your role will encompass clinical, managerial, and educational responsibilities, ensuring a seamless service 24/7. You will drive quality, innovation, and safety, aligning with key national frameworks such as the NNAP, ATAIN project, The BLISS Baby Charter, and UNICEF Baby Friendly Neonatal Standards.
Main duties of the job
Your core responsibilities will include:
- Leading and managing the neonatal team to deliver a high standard of care, ensuring services run smoothly 24/7.
- Acting as an expert in neonatal care, offering advanced clinical supervision, decision-making, and guidance to staff.
- Driving quality improvement initiatives, ensuring compliance with national standards such as the National Neonatal Audit Programme (NNAP), ATAIN project, The BLISS Baby Charter, and UNICEF Baby Friendly Neonatal Standards.
- Overseeing the development, implementation, and evaluation of neonatal care programmes, in line with the National Service Specification (E08/S/a) and South West Operational Delivery Network criteria.
- Ensuring staff training and development, fostering a culture of learning, innovation, and best practice.
- Championing neonatal safety, using research-based knowledge to enhance care quality and outcomes.
- Promoting family-centred care, ensuring all babies and their families receive compassionate, coordinated support and follow-up.
