The Community Mental Health services are on a journey to developing a trauma informed care approach to how care is delivered. At its heart this is recognising the role of adverse experience in peoples lives both clients and colleagues and providing care that is trauma aware, safe responsive and collaborative

Main duties of the job

As Somerset Specialist Psychological Interventions (SPI) lead psychologist, you would be providing senior clinical leadership and expertise to ensure the delivery of an integrated, flexible and accessible psychological provision within the community mental health locality. This will include being embedded within the mental health team to support colleagues in the provision of care through consultation, team formulation, clinical supervision and training. It will also include providing psychological assessment, formulation and intervention to the more challenging and complex clients within the services

The Mendip Community Mental Health service is a welcoming and friendly team that has an abundance of committed, compassionate and highly skilled team members. In addition, you will be working alongside a wealth of skilled and competent psychologist, psychological therapist, clinical associate psychologist and assistant psychologist.   • Doctoral Clinical/Counselling Psychology qualification or equivalent
  • Registration with the Health and Care Professions Council.

Desirable

  • Relevant specialist CPD qualification or post qualification training in psychological therapy
  • Management/Leadership training/qualification
  • Clinical supervision training

Experience

Essential

  • Significant specialist post qualification experience in the field of severe mental illness
  • Experience of work across service settings and agencies
  • Clinical and audit work within specialist area
  • Teaching/training with range of staff and other professions
  • Supervision experience with all grades of staff
  • Working with clients presenting risk to self and/or others
  • Experience of Service Development/Project Work

Desirable

  • Consultancy work in multi-professional settings
  • Quality Improvement and/or R&D work in specialist area
  • Experience managing Services
