Job summary

You will manage and oversee the booking of all clinical activity within the Surgical Investigation Unit (SIU), including Outpatient and Reception duties as well as providing complete medical secretarial support to the Urology service. To use own initiative to organise own workload and work without immediate supervision. You will oversee the B2 receptionist, to include daily supervision to the receptionist with positive leadership.You are required to maintain the Trusts values and core standards and to lead by example and maintain an excellent patient experience at all times.

You will be required to work flexibly across the Trust in a variety of specialties.

Main duties of the job

Manage and oversee booking of all clinical activity within Surgical Investigation Unit.

Provide complete medical secretarial support to SIU team.

Oversee band 2 receptionist, to include daily supervision and positive leadership.

Essential

  • Good standard of general educationAMSPAR or British Medical Secretary Diploma (includes medical terminology) or equivalent knowledgeMinimum of 12 months experience in similar setting

Desirable

  • RSA/OCR III WP/Typing or equivalentECDL or equivalentILM 3 Leadership and Management, or equivalent (or be prepared to work towards)

Experience

Essential

  • Previous NHS administration experience (2 years minimum)Audio typing/word processing

Desirable

  • Medical audio typingEvidence of supervisory & mentoring skillsExperience of leading on the provision of a diverse range of administrative services to support teams to achieve organisational objectives
