Job summary
This post requires a registered physiotherapist with broad clinical experience in different specialities and general medicine. Sold knowledge of medical conditions resulting in acute hospital admissions, episodes of illness, treatment, prognosis expectations as well as how to support this group of patients to achieve their therapeutic goals.
Successful individual would be expected to participate in developing our new service (Medical Therapy Team), work within an experienced team involving Physiotherapists and Rehabilitation Assistants and be competent to provide Physiotherapeutic management for patients broad range of clinical presentations in general medicine (Electrolyte imbalance, SEPSIS, new or progression of Cancer, respiratory medicine, fractures, chronic or flared up neurological conditions) & Cardiology wards.
Main duties of the job
- Provide a highly specialised and up to date physiotherapy service in General medicine & Cardiology wards. Be competent in a range of Physiotherapeutic skills; respiratory, surgical, medicine, orthopaedic, care of the elderly, neurology, MSK and oncology.
- This post will require a good understanding of a broad range of physiotherapy specialities (Generalist specialist), a good understanding of the role of Occupational Therapy, Social and Community Services and Support participating in the supervision of Band 5 Physiotherapists and assistants. The post holder should also have a broader understanding of departmental /therapy issues.
- Provide clinical support and supervision for band 5 staff, students and assistants working in these areas.
- Be expected to provide and manage the physiotherapy service to highly complex acute in patients.
- Be actively involved in follow-up care when needed.
