Job summary
An opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated and experienced Medical Secretary/Personal Assistant to join our innovative Respiratory Department at Musgrove Park Hospital, Taunton. Whilst this post is on a full time basis (Monday to Friday) flexible working is available so you can be part of our team.
We are looking for an enthusiastic person to provide a first-class secretarial service to our patients and Respiratory clinical team. The successful candidate will provide positive leadership of the administrative team ensuring that high standards are maintained and that an excellent patient experience is always provided. They will need to have first rate communication and organisational skills, be proactive and methodical in their approach and be able to work as part of a team, but also use their own initiative.

Main duties of the job
The post holder will be required to provide a comprehensive administration service to the respiratory clinical team. You will be a main point of contact and demonstrate a keen eye for detail, be resourceful, have excellent written and oral communication skills, accurate audio typing skills and a high level of organisational skills. You will support patients through planning and processing clinics, typing clinic letters, recording clinical data and creating electronic treatment referrals.
You will lead a high performing administration team and will enable communication between patients and clinical teams so that the team can continue to provide an outstanding patient experience. Communications can be via telephone, correspondence, email or face-to face and will always require a sensitive and patient manner. You will not only take minutes of meetings but also be a voice for the secretarial team at other meetings. You will need to ensure that team are covered during periods of absence and assist in the emergency cover of specific work (i.e. urgent letters/reports). This flexibility is essential for the department to maintain our high standards for our patients. You will require a high level of competence, confidence and be able to deal with confidential and sensitive information.
