Job summary
Willow Ward, based in Bridgwater, Somerset, is seeking an Occupational therapist to contribute to providing an excellent rehabilitation service within Somerset. The post holder will be either band 5 or 6 depending on their level of experience and knowledge within the specialist field of mental health rehabilitation.
Willow Ward is an 11-bed inpatient rehabilitation ward which provides a county wide service for mixed gender, working age adults who require a high level of support and intensive rehabilitation; due to severe and enduring complex mental health conditions and sometimes accompanied by substance or alcohol dependency.
Patients who come to Willow Ward may have experienced long periods of in-patient care and need a high level of rehabilitation support to develop good management of their mental health difficulties and to develop the skills that they need to live independently, with the appropriate level of support.
We aim to provide expert supportive and individualised care provided under the ethos and principles of relational recovery; which promotes social inclusion and works in partnership with service users, their families, and carers. The post holder will also be expected to work closely with the newly developed Open Mental Health Rehabilitation Team who offer the community aspect of Somerset's rehabilitation pathway.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be responsible for the Occupational Therapy provision in Willow Ward, receiving clinical supervision from a Band 6/7 Occupational Therapist.
Working within a multidisciplinary team having supervisory responsibility for OT assistant/activity organisers and being line managed by the Ward Manager.
To work with Patients and Carers, with Nursing Staff and other Multi-Disciplinary Professionals, Social Workers and with other Occupational Therapists. (Internal).
To plan and organise own time effectively on a day to day basis.
To plan and organise effective Occupational Therapy care and treatment for all patients, applying proven application of the OT process and outcome own practice and to lead in individual and group therapies as required.
