Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 4 Assistant Practitioner to work with the Outpatient Therapy Team at Yeovil Hospital.
This role has the ability to work within the Hand Therapy Team, Musculoskeletal Team, Dermatology and run a range of classes with groups of patients at varied levels.
The ideal candidate will need to be confident, proactive and have excellent communication skills and be able to work as part of the team, as well as being confident in working autonomously.
As well as offering continuing professional development and clinical supervision, we also offer excellent support for those wishing to develop a special interest as well as a comprehensive in-service training schedule.

Main duties of the job
To provide, in conjunction with Occupational Therapists and Physiotherapists, a comprehensive Hand Therapy service for patients with acute hand injuries and other upper limb problems. This made involve the manufacture and supply of specialist splints.
To provide leadership for Rehabilitation Assistants
To undertake the mentoring and assessing of Rehabilitation Assistants and other non-professional members of staff.
To undertake specific skilled support work to aid the rehabilitation of patients in an outpatient setting
To act as the therapy clinician for specific patient groups (ultra violet treatment, mobility aids and appliances including splints) according to well defined protocols/guidelines
To provide on-going active therapy programmes following assessment and treatment according to well defined protocols or guidelines
To be responsible for ensuring safe management of all medical devices used by therapy services.
To act as an expert resource in the management of wound care within rehabilitation services.
To assist registered staff in the implementation of treatment programmes for the complex patient.
