Job summary
Paediatric Occupational Therapist (Band 6)
Full or Part-Time hours available
We are seeking an experienced Occupational Therapist to work as part of a friendly, highly specialised team in the Children and Young People's Therapy Service (CYPTS) within Somerset NHS Foundation Trust. The service comprises Paediatric Speech and Language Therapists, Occupational Therapists and Physiotherapists as well as Therapy Support Practitioners and Administrators. Experience of working within a community paediatric role would be beneficial.
The service is delivered by four integrated therapy teams working geographically across Somerset in clinics, schools, preschool settings and family homes. We have a close working partnership with education and with health colleagues in other services.
We have designated clinic and office spaces in each of the four bases which are all well-equipped for therapy activities and the associated admin.
A post in the CYPTS provides the opportunity to develop integrated working with colleagues from Physiotherapy and Speech and Language Therapy as well as ongoing professional development as an Occupational Therapist. We provide regular supervision from more experienced Occupational Therapists, including clinical leads.
We have an excellent supervision and support structure in place as well as a robust induction programme.
The post will be offered as a permanent contract with full (37.5) or part time hours considered.
Main duties of the job
You will get to assess and carry out interventions for children and young people with a range of motor, sensory and neurological difficulties, within skill mixed teams. You will also support colleagues to run groups and parent workshops and will have the opportunity to support other CYPTS teams in the service either through remote working or travelling to other bases.
