Job summary
We have an exciting new opportunity for a Band 6 Specialist Occupational Therapist - Parkinson's/ Older people.
This is an opportunity to deliver specialist services whilst keeping Occupation at the core of practice. With support from the Team Leader, the post holder will take a specialist clinical lead role in the provision and development of an effective and specialised Parkinson's / Frailty Occupational Therapy Service, providing specialist education and advice as required and play a key role in developing the Parkinson's Disease outpatient clinic.

Main duties of the job
To provide specialist Occupational Therapy assessments and intervention for patients admitted to the hospital on the Parkinson's ward whilst working along side care of older people team
To deliver therapy directly and create assistant plans for persons admitted to support rehabilitation, and or maintenance of independence whilst an inpatient. To assess and consider risks and to plan and deliver timely and safe discharges.
Preferably having some knowledge and experience of seating and positioning and postural management for clients with neurological deficits. These skills will be supported and developed by clinical leads (B7).
Some skills and experience in cognitive assessment, and cognitive rehabilitation. You will be expected to deliver this directly and be able to create rehab plans for occupational therapy assistants to deliver. As above these skills will be supported and developed by clinical leads.
To work in a fast passed acute hospital working alongside the multidisciplinary teams on the wards, working closely with physiotherapy colleagues and rehab assistants to deliver high standard of compassionate and person-centred therapy, with SMART goal setting and therapy focused on enabling function.
The candidate will participate in clinical audit, in policy development and implementation, and be involved in the of implementation of local and national standards.
