Job summary
To work full-time, Monday to Friday, divided 50:50 between clinical and academic commitments. The academic role involves teaching medical students and doctors in training, in addition to studying part-time for a post-graduate certificate in Clinical Research. Applicants must be committed to studying part-time for a certificate in clinical research.
These roles are available from 1st August 2024 or earlier.
We currently provide a broad spectrum of outpatient activity including general adult and paediatric Dermatology and skin cancer services. We are closely supported by our Nurse Specialist team in the provision and monitoring of systemic therapies, including biological therapies and isotretinoin, and skin cancer diagnosis, support and follow up. Phototherapies are provided at Yeovil District Hospital, Yeatman Hospital in Sherborne and at Musgrove Park Hospital, Taunton. We provide a busy patch testing service at the Yeovil site. We strongly encourage and support development of subspecialty interests to augment our local service.
The Dermatology department works closely with neighbouring departments in Bristol and Exeter. We access Medical and Clinical Oncology services via our SSMDT at Taunton. Consultant Plastic Surgeons attend the skin cancer MDT and undertake surgical lists and outpatient clinics weekly at Yeovil District Hospital.
You must hold Full GMC registration with a licence to practice at time of applying for this vacancy, and have already passed MRCP part I.
Main duties of the job
We are looking for excellent team players who are keen learn and become part of a thriving Dermatology service. This advert is looking to hire two doctors, one post will be at the site location of MPH and one will be at the site location of YDH.
You will work closely with the clinical team (doctors and nurses) and have a varied day which will include reviewing inpatients, running outpatient clinics, teaching and research.
