Job summary

We are recruiting 11 posts across Musgrove Park Hospital (MPH), Yeovil District Hospital (YDH) and MSK sites across Somerset.

The acute posts in MPH and YDH rotate through: surgical, medical, neurology, stroke, orthopaedics, ITU, respiratory, coop wards, outpatients and the joint emergency therapy team.

Do you want to be part of a Trust that places a strong emphasis on development?

This is a great opportunity to gain new skills and work in exciting and dynamic therapy teams, within a Trust that places a strong emphasis on CPD, clinical supervision, preceptorship and development.

You will also be fully supported with an excellent development programme which includes supervision, with competencies to achieve and in-service training.

Is this the ideal role for you?

  • Are you a motivated, enthusiastic and forward thinking qualified Physiotherapist?
  • Are you dynamic and flexible to the workload fluctuations, and understand the demands of working in an acute trust?
  • Are you able to take part in a full 7 day working and the respiratory on call service?

If you answered YES to these questions then we would love to hear from you!

Somerset Foundation Trust is a great place to start your career with opportunities for development from day one. We are working collaboratively on recruitment so if you are interested in working on either site or any of the MSK sites you do not need to apply twice but please could you make clear in your supporting statement your preferred place of work.

Main duties of the job

The MPH and YDH acute rotations are:

  • Orthopaedics - MPH / YDH
  • Stroke service and neurology - MPH / YDH
  • Medical/Care of elderly - MPH / YDH
  • ITU/Surgery/Respiratory (with some exposure to oncology and paediatrics) - MPH / YDH
  • Musculoskeletal Out-patients - DBCU
  • JETT (Joint Emergency Therapy Team) - MPH
  • MSK at various sites across Somerset with mixed virtual and face to face clinics.

The workload will be flexible and, at times, will involve the provision of service in locations other than specifed.

For MPH and YDH: a full part in the on-call and weekend rota, (following a full induction programme).

Posts will be part of the delivery of the physiotherapy 7 day week service including Bank Holidays and you will be required to participate in the rota system i.e. work 5 days within a 7 day period.

These are post graduate 'training posts' in physiotherapy where the post holder is supervised. Mentoring is available on all aspects of patient care and more senior staff are always available on site.
