Job summary
Are you interested in becoming a valued member of our close-knit theatre team? Join us to play a crucial role in delivering direct nursing care and support for patients' personal care, investigations, and treatments, all under the guidance of a Registered Nurse/Dental Nurse.
West Mendip Hospital have great facilities for local anaesthetic minor surgeries in a specialised outpatient theatre setting. With free parking and changing facilities, we provide a welcoming environment.
If you are new to care, but possess the qualities and values of our Trust we would love to speak with you! Full training and support will be provided in this role, guiding you to work independently and provide the best care to our patients.
Main duties of the job
- Communicate with patients, relatives, carers and staff in a professional way, always maintaining patient confidentiality.
- Regularly work with all members of the nursing, medical and admin team.
- Participate in Surgical safety briefings and the 5 steps to safer surgery in line with local policy, communicating all relevant care related information to the team and any changes to the allocated charge nurse that may impact patient care.
- Attend regular team meetings and keep up to date with changes to policies or procedures within the department, using the hospital online education system available. (LEAF)
- Demonstrate written and electronic documentation of patient care using the Maxims theatre software.
- Pass on oral and written messages accurately and deal with telephone enquiries appropriately and sensitively.
- Report any untoward incidents or events either verbally or in writing, using the Trust electronic incident reporting system.
- Be aware of the importance of health education and be able to advise patients on available advice, as directed by the surgical and nursing team accordingly.
