Job summary
This is a new and exciting opportunity for the development of a peer support group coordinator/facilitator within the Somerset Myalgic Encephalomyelitis/Chronic Fatigue Syndrome Service (ME/CFS).
As part of the ME/CFS service, we are keen to develop support groups across the county for people referred to the service. The focus of the groups is to facilitate peer support related to the impact of living with this condition.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be responsible for facilitating and coordinating all aspects of the online group work including enquiries, session preparation, group delivery, documentation and advice re: guided self help and signposting as appropriate. They post holder will be expected to work flexibly with some out of hours working to facilitate group sessions.
The group coordinator will be part of a multidisciplinary team. The role will also involve working closely with other health professionals and the voluntary sector.

- Degree or equivalent professional qualification in health or education, such as Nursing, Occupational Therapy, Psychology, Teaching
Desirable
- Additional post graduate training in group work, psychological therapies
Knowledge and Experience
Essential
- Experience of working with patients, members of the public to support self management.
- Understanding of symptoms, impact, treatment principles for this condition.
Desirable
- Experience of group work
- Experience of supporting people with LTC.
Communication Skills
