Job summary

Do you want to work for a Sonography Service that excels in its service delivery and benefits from impressive equipment standards?

Then we would love for you to join our dynamic and supportive team of multi-disciplinary Sonographers here at Somerset NHS Foundation Trust!

You will get the opportunity to perform all obstetric (including Nuchal scans), general abdominal, gynaecological, ultrasound examinations at Somerset NHS Foundation Trust and peripheral sites, working in line with Band 7 expectations in all areas of practice.

Our purpose-built Diagnostic Ultrasound department has a fleet of flag-ship GE equipment, a successful (>10 years) rolling Sonographer training program, 7-day affable Radiologist support and dedicated Interventional Ultrasound facilities.

Our refurbished Antenatal clinic has state-of-the-art Canon/GE equipment in a 4-bed unit, providing an interdisciplinary fusion of Radiographer and Midwife Sonographer led services.

To work as part of the ultrasound team undertaking a wide range of ultrasound examinations. The post holder will be expected to work independently and produce diagnostic reports which will provide advice on future patient management to other clinicians, including obstetricians, gynaecologists, midwives, GP's etc.

Main duties of the job

To work as part of the ultrasound team undertaking a wide range of ultrasound examinations.

The post holder will be expected to work independently and produce diagnostic reports which will provide advice on future patient management to other clinicians, including obstetricians, gynaecologists, midwives, GP's etc.

Experience of Nuchal Translucency scanning would be an advantage but training can be provided.

To provide general and specialised ultrasound services in the main hospital and at outlying hospitals and clinics thus providing highly skilled patient focused care.

Any other reasonable task as directed by line manager commensurate with grade.

This will Include some shift work, weekend & bank holiday working and lone working at associated Community Hospitals, thereforeaccess to a vehicle which can be used for work purposes for travelling to various sites across the Trust.
