Main duties of the job

Your new position will be a rewarding one which will involve supporting mental health service users to find and retain paid employment. We work within the Individual Placement & Support (IPS) model and we'll provide you with training in this approach, as well as peer support and regular supervision within the role. You will use the IPS model to support people through all stages of their employment journey, including talking with potential employers and in-work support after an individual starts their new job.

Job responsibilities

The post holder will work with a defined caseload of clients to seek employment that will fit with their preferences, under the supervision of a registered healthcare professional. There will be routine liaison with colleagues providing mental health treatment to our mutual clients.

The post holder will also work closely with local employers and other agencies, such as Job Centre Plus, probation, NACRO and other partners to identify employment opportunities, and support the aspirations of service users with severe mental health issues who wish to work.

There is a requirement to keep accurate electronic records of your work with clients up to date and to contribute to service data collection.

The post holder may also provide information or training to increase employer awareness of their responsibilities and obligations under the Equality Act.

If you are looking for regular hours this service operates 9am-5pm, Monday to Friday and involves agile working. Your base will be in Yeovil, with travel to the other localities as needed.

Qualifications

  • ooCertificate in Community Mental Health or NVQ III in a health or social care field or an equivalent level recognised qualification in a human services or customer service related field (e.g. advice and guidance, human resources/recruitment, customer care, business). You can be working towards this qualification or you can hold an existing qualification in IPS.

Desirable

  • oA diploma level qualification or higher in a field such as health, social care, advice and guidance, human resources/recruitment, customer care, business

Knowledge

Essential

  • Understanding of and commitment to the IPS model

Desirable

  • oKnowledge of The Equality Act 2010 and other employment related legislation and their implementation.

Experience

Essential

  • oExperience of providing advice, guidance and support in healthcare and/or vocational programme settings.
  • oExperience of working with adults with severe mental health difficulties.
