Job summary

An opportunity has arisen for a Clinical Associate Psychologist to join our Community Mental Health Service (CMHS) in Taunton working within our Open Mental Health Team. It is a great time to join Somerset NHS Foundation Trust, and we're looking for a Clinical Associate Psychologist who is passionate about using their clinical expertise to shape and deliver accessible adult community services that have the power to transform lives.

Somerset NHS Foundation Trust is a trailblazer for the Community Mental Health Framework (2019) and as such we are dismantling the traditional barriers to accessing interventions, treatment and support. We have expanded our mental health staffing in the Trust, working from within community settings such as Recovery College and third sector partners through to specialist NHS mental health settings, to enable people to access the right interventions, at the right time and in the right place. See for more information seeSomerset's Mental Health Alliance - Open Mental Health.

We welcome newly qualified CAP to apply who are looking to start or develop their career within our Specialist Psychological Intervention Team.

This role is a full time position but would be willing to explore part-time offers or job share.

Main duties of the job

To improve the mental health of people within the agreed locality by undertaking specialised psychological assessments, contributing to bespoke clinical formulations, delivering structured, evidence-based and psychologically-informed interventions and undertaking agreed research activity, all appropriate to the post-holder's level of training, competence and experience.

To work within a psychology and trauma informed service provision model as a semi autonomous practitioner.

To work autonomously on a day-to-day basis, under supervision and direction from a registered Practitioner Psychologist and within the scope of practice set out within the Apprenticeship Standard for Clinical Associate Psychologists and their own training.

All clinical work will be overseen and reviewed regularly through supervision provided by an HCPC registered Practitioner Psychologist (other qualified healthcare professionals may also contribute to supervision as deemed appropriate by the relevant Strategic Lead for Psychology and Psychological Therapies).
