Job summary
Switchboard Operators required, Part -time or Fulltime - we are looking for enthusiastic, great communicators to join a very busy and critical service at Musgrove Park Hospital Switchboard.
This role does include ALL shifts, 6-2's, 2-10's, Nights, weekends and bank holidays, Christmas and New year, which are different each week, (No set pattern) staff are provided with a 6 week rota in advance. Candidates will need to be able to cover all shifts, if you cannot cover all shifts, please do not apply.
Staff may be working 8 shifts in a row, this will include 7 nights in a row over a 6 week period. Switchboard is a critical 24/7 which does not close.
Main duties of the job
- Answering incoming and external calls, on average of 60,000 per month, being able to speak professionally to staff, colleagues, health professionals, patients and relatives.
- Dealing with time critical emergency calls for the trust, Cardiac arrest calls, Bomb Threat, Fire, Helicopter, Trauma, Stroke, Security, major incidents.
- Monitoring critical alarms for the trust and reporting them quickly.
- Programming and issuing bleeps for staff
- Producing ID badges
- Issuing keys for the trust
- Booking on call rooms accommodation and sending confirmations
- Completing complex rotas for on call staff
