Job summary
Our busy outpatients department is looking to recruit a qualified RN on a part time basis.
Can you deliver patient centred care on a daily basis in the outpatient setting using the systems provided and understanding the philosophy that the Outpatients department is the 'window' of the hospital and may be the patients first experience of care in a hospital setting.
Band 5 post holders will also provide effective clinical and managerial leadership of the GOPD, in the absence of the Sister and Senior Staff Nurse.

To be an integral member of the GOPD team. Prioritising and managing outpatient clinics in a professional manner. Liaising with the Multi-Disciplinary team, patients & relatives.
Communicate with patients, relatives and carers sensitive clinical information in a way that takes into account the level of understanding and any barriers that may have an impact on the
Acting as patient's advocate, ensuring that the patient has understood the consultation and the plan of treatment, and has had the opportunity to voice any concerns or questions. Provide supporting literature and verbal advice as required.
Escort unwell patients to other wards or departments, completing necessary documentation, giving comprehensive explanation to patient and handover to ward staff.
Able to communicate information to patients.
To provide advice, guidance and support to HCAs working within the department.

Our RN's & HCA's are multi-skilled professionals who undertake various tasks to support the Clinicians during their outpatient clinics. Learning and development plays a huge part in all our roles, this enables us to support the organisations vision of an NHS fit for the 21st Century. Improvement and innovation of the service is ongoing and we are currently working alongside the Improvement team to deliver better care and lower costs, ensuring patient care is never compromised. We provide nursing support/chaperones to Consultant led clinics and Registrar/ Staff Grade led clinics.
We have 18 Clinic consulting rooms, along with examination rooms and fully equipped treatment rooms where minor surgery is undertaken. We support approximately 20 different specialities. Specialist Clinicians and Nurses from across the South West undertake, Dermatology, plastic surgery, Neurology and Nephrology Clinics on a regular basis.
