Job summary
Wessex House is a generic adolescent inpatient unit for young people from the age of 13 up until 18 years of age. Wessex House has developed effective working practices with a rich and diverse therapeutic structure.
We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic and passionate OT to provide support to the already established OT service and wider MDT. You will be able to draw on well-resourced inpatient facilities to deliver individualised packages of care, as well as facilitating group work, and leading others to do so.
You will benefit from the usual NHS benefits such as 5.4 weeks (full time) annual leave PLUS Bank Holidays, enhanced pay for unsociable hours to complement your income, and flexible working practices to promote a good work-life balance.
Please note this position is for a Band 6 Senior Occupational Therapist, however if you have recently qualified then please do apply and if you were successful you could initially join us on a Band 5 until you have gained the necessary experience. If you have any queries, please do not hesitate to contact us.
Main duties of the job
We have a range of therapeutic approaches on the unit which you will be able to learn from and be involved in; including systemic family therapy and DBT. Regular direct clinical and management supervision as well as reflective practice, case formulation, peer supervision and debriefs will be available to you.
Working in an inpatient service, you'll participate in providing high-quality mental health services for children, young people and their families. You will be part of the multi-disciplinary team, providing assessments, treatment and contributing to care plans. Your work will be within the framework of the Recovery Care Programme Approach. Somerset Partnership encourages the use of evidence-based principles such as the Model of Human Occupation.
About us
As an organisation, the NHS offers a wide range of benefits including flexible working, pension contributions, market leading annual leave allowance, career progression, and regular conversations, not to mention our Blue Light Card and NHS exclusive discounts.
The benefits of working in Somerset include the idyllic countryside, with our areas of outstanding beauty and stunning coastlines. You will get to enjoy these perks whilst still only being a stone's throw away from bustling city centres like Bristol, Bath and Exeter and only two hours away from London.
There are excellent educational facilities in the area and, when compared to other regions, house prices are reasonable. You will experience the best of both in Somerset, the countryside and the cosmopolitan - there is truly something for everyone!
