Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for Assistant Psychologists to join the Somerset Memory Assessment Services (MAS) within the Older Persons Mental Health Service (OPMH) Memory Assessment Service for South Somerset. The post will be based in Yeovil and Chard but covering the whole of South Somerset.

This post holder will, with the support and under the supervision of Clinical Psychologists and Clinical Neuropsychologists, be involved in working psychologically within the OPMH team and Memory assessment service undertaking a broad range of activities including assessment, formulation, intervention, and evaluation

Main duties of the job

The post holder will work within an enthusiastic multidisciplinary team to:

Co-facilitate supportive and psycho-educational groups and workshops to help people who are in the process of assessment and/or have received a dementia diagnosis as part of post diagnostic support.

The post-holder will contribute to service evaluations, audits and service development as directed by their Team Manager and Clinical Supervisor to ensure effective implementation of best practice.

Regular clinical supervision will be provided as are many opportunities to learn about a wide range of clinical presentations and services, this is due to the integrated nature of the Psychology Services within SFT. It is essential that applicants have a recognised undergraduate First or Upper Second class degree in Psychology and have the Graduate Basis for Registration with the British Psychological Society. Experience of working with similar clinical populations would be beneficial. The ability to provide group-based interventions and/or experience ofneuropsychological assessment would be an advantage.

We would like to recruit staff who are committed and dedicated to working with Older People.

This post is based in South Somerset and the successful applicant will be expected to cover patients within the whole of this area.
