Job summary
We have an exciting and unique opportunity for Registered Adult Nurses, who already have a relevant degree, to study Midwifery at Masters level.
Whilst working with our Midwifery team at the hospital, you will undertake MSc Midwifery (shortened), this course equips you with the skills, knowledge and professional insight needed to become a registered midwife whilst working within Musgrove Park Hospital or Yeovil District Hospital & Community.
N.B. Salary support for the duration of the course is provided by Health Education England at a maximum salary of mid band 5 (AFC). As this is a studentship, previous salary bandings will not be matched and there are no enhanced payments for unsociable hours. Health Education England will also be funding university tuition fees for those commencing shortened midwifery training between January 2022 - April 2024 (up to a maximum of £9,250 per annum). Some students may also be eligible for a means tested maintenance loan.
Further information can be obtained through Student Finance England. Successful applicants will need to be able to travel to University of Plymouth, Devon for the theoretical components of the course.
Main duties of the job
This programme provides Registered Adult Nurses, who already have a relevant degree, with the opportunity to study Midwifery at Masters level. This course equips them with the skills, knowledge and professional insight needed to become a registered midwife. Whether it is helping women during pregnancy and birth, or giving support to new mothers, you learn through doing, building your confidence as you go. Graduate ready to excel as a fully rounded Midwife.
This degree will build on their skills and knowledge as a registered adult nurse to work as part of a multi-professional team and develop them into an autonomous registered midwife.
