Job summary

We are seeking a passionate and caring Healthcare Support Worker to join Willow Ward, based in Bridgwater. This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to providing an excellent service and make a difference to people requiring mental health services.

Willow Ward consists of 11 beds looking after working age adults with severe and enduring complex mental health difficulties.

We will offer a comprehensive training programme and ongoing peer and clinical supervision.

Main duties of the job

We will empower you to work innovatively, showing a commitment to providing compassionate care and a strong desire to improve the patient's experience.

You will be able to apply the philosophies of engagement, recovery and positive care in your work with your patients.

The job includes:

  • Listening and talking to patients and their families
  • Building therapeutic relationships with patients and observing patient's behaviour
  • Supporting patients with eating, drinking and their own personal hygiene
  • Involving patients in activities that are available.
  • Escorting patients out of the unit
  • De-escalation

Experience of working in care would be an advantage, but not essential as we will provide you with full training and support to help you succeed.

There is an expectation that hours are worked flexibly to cover the needs of the service.
