We have the perfect opportunity for you to become an Enhanced Practitioner within our MSK Physiotherapy service and depending on the candidate, within our Primary Care Networks across Somerset.
We believe in developing our employees in portfolio working. This role involves working as a spinal specialist within the MSK physiotherapy service, offering assessment, advice, treatment and support to patients and staff throughout the MSK pathway. There will also be opportunities to work as an EPP across the MSK pathway and within our First Contact Practitioner role.
You will be joining a highly motivated team of Band 4 exercise instructors, Band 5s, 6s, Enhanced and Advanced PP's, delivering a proactive multidisciplinary approach to a wide range of musculoskeletal conditions. You will work closely with the team and lead on the delivery of consistently high quality care. You will offer clinical support and supervision to the team as well as leading on the yearly IST programmes and service audits.
You will primarily work as an enhanced practitioner in spines within the MSK Physiotherapy Service.
As well as working clinically you will also have the opportunity to take part in service evaluation, quality improvement, clinical audit and research with the aim of sharing our work and service developments at conferences and in publications.
Main duties of the job
- This role will see and treat complex musculoskeletal injuries as an autonomous practitioner.
- Undertake clinics within the Musculoskeletal Service assessing new referrals from GP's, consultants and other physiotherapists. They are able to request appropriate investigations based on their level of competence.
- To act as a source of expertise on the management of musculoskeletal conditions, as well as providing an advisory service to patients, other therapists, other healthcare professionals and the primary healthcare team including GPs.
- To provide the lead role in the supervision, teaching and appraisal of therapy colleagues and students.
- To communicate very complex clinical information both written and verbal, in an easily understood form to patients, carers, and all members of the multi-disciplinary team.
- To provide the above as part of the Somerset Foundation Trust MSk team service development and pathway design.
