Are you a Headache Practitioner who drives quality and patient experience through their expert clinical knowledge?
Somerset Foundation Trust is proud to announce an exciting opportunity which has arisen within the sub-speciality with Neurology- Headache Team. You will be supporting the delivery of clinical headache service in a busy and expanding service across the whole of Somerset NHS Foundation Trust.
The role will encompass the treatment and management of patients suffering from headache disorders with a proportion of the care involving the delivery of practical interventional treatments such as Botulinum Toxin injections
We are a supportive team that will offer you a thorough induction and investment in developing your knowledge and skills. We will also put you through a formal Physical and Clinical reasoning course and non-medical prescribing.
Main duties of the job
You will need to be committed to improving patient care and as such can work autonomously, demonstrate initiative and possess advanced communication and strong organisational skills. The post will predominantly support the delivery of outpatient based care, with development of supporting review of inpatient in the future.
As a clinical Specialist, you will be managing patients with a range of headache disorders including chronic migraines. This will include managing referrals, developing the headache service. It is an exciting time for headache care, with the availability of interesting and effective new pharmacotherapies. You must possess excellent communication skills to manage and triage of incoming calls, out-patient referrals, counsel patients and clinical support. Research and teaching in both patient and professional forums will be required to facilitate a growing need to improve the quality of life for a large cohort of patients of whom are living with this debilitating conditions.
There is scope for developing the role and service, so enthusiasm, drive and ability to think creatively are encourage in this role.
