An exciting opportunity for a new assistant psychologist to join a highly regarded specialist children's eating disorder service (CEDS).
The aim of the service is to provide a comprehensive multi-disciplinary approach, with all young people care coordinated through this dedicated service. The team service model is rooted within a family-based methodology and uses the Maudsley approach as the core intervention. Additional intervention approaches include CBT-E, and other therapies as appropriate to individual presentation. The team is providing a innovative RO-DBT programme and a rolling Multi Family Therapy programme. The team are part of the QNCC-ED assurance network and have recently had a very positive peer review.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will work with the team to support the development of a flexible approach to the delivery of a Somerset wide CAMHS Eating Disorder service and working closely with other partners. You will provide a valuable contribution to the team by conducting clinical assessments and administering psychometric instruments as appropriate; being involved in service development/evaluation and audit projects; providing basic psychological therapy; and providing training.

- To conduct specialised clinical assessments, including the use of psychometric instruments with young people who have eating disorders. This will involve judgments involving a range of facts or situations which require analysis or comparison of a range of options.
- To provide individual psychological therapy/support to service users, referred to the CAMHS CEDS Service utilising advanced counselling skills, cognitive-behavioural techniques and skills training. To be part of a therapeutic pair providing family based treatment.
- To use highly developed, persuasive, negotiating and education skills to liaise with mental health/other professionals/agencies as required
- To pursue relevant clinical interests by agreement with the Principal Clinical Psychologist in the CAMHS CEDS Team.
- To assist the Principal Clinical Psychologist in service development work, as appropriate.
- To contribute to the development of a projects including data management and analysis to aid service development.
- To design and undertake appropriate research and complex audit/service evaluation using qualitative or quantitative measures.
- To analyse, interpret and present data in appropriate formats, including reports and PowerPoint presentations.
- To assist the Principal Clinical Psychologist in the analysis and reporting of data relating to the activity of the CAMHS CEDS Team.
