Job summary

Here in Yeovil at Rowan Ward are looking for health care support workers to contribute to providing excellent services.
We are a very caring and close knit team with a focus on supporting each other through the challenges of working on an acute ward so we can continue to make a difference to our patient's recovery.
Rowan Ward consists of 16 beds both looking after working age adults . We provide an environment that is modern, bright, clean and safe for our residents to recover in, as well as a great facility for our staff to work in.
We will offer a comprehensive training programme and ongoing peer and clinical supervision.
The ward has achieved and maintained AIMS accreditation.

Main duties of the job
We will empower you to work innovatively, showing a commitment to providing compassionate care and a strong desire to improve the patient's experience.
You will be able to apply the philosophies of engagement, recovery and positive care in your work with your patients.
The job includes:
- Listening and talking to patients and their families
- Building therapeutic relationships with patients and observing patient's behaviour
- Supporting patients with eating, drinking and their own personal hygiene
- Involving patients in activities that are available.
- Escorting patients out of the unit
- De-escalation
Experience of working in care would be an advantage, but not essential as we will provide you with full training and support to help you succeed.
There is an expectation that hours are worked flexibly to cover the needs of the service.
