Job summary
Do you have a background in construction? Are you looking for your next challenge where you can have a big impact?
The Capital Projects Team at Somerset NHS Foundation Trust are looking for a Senior Project Manager. You'll join our experienced Head of Capital Delivery in managing the delivery of our exciting and ambitious Capital Programme.
This is a rare and exciting opportunity where you can help build the future of the NHS for the population of Somerset.
The role is Monday to Friday with the occasional need to work out of hours at key points of a project. Flexible working is required with opportunities to work from home/remote working.
Main duties of the job
You'll take the lead in project managing large or small-scale projects including feasibility, procurement, design, construction, commissioning and bringing into use of complex capital investment schemes across the Trust's estate. You'll have the satisfaction of being able to see a project through from beginning to end with the knowledge that your work is having a positive impact on patient care.
The team supports projects to improve facilities in any of our acute, community or mental health services across Somerset. This includes the New Hospitals Programme known as Musgrove 2030, creating state-of-the-art buildings offering patients safe, effective and personalised care, based on advanced treatments, technology and healthcare innovations. One such example is the new surgical decision unit which has brought surgeons, emergency doctors and other healthcare professionals closer together, providing more rapid assessment of patients and reducing hospital admissions.
Within our community hospitals there are numerous smaller schemes that support ongoing patient care and service developments such as our recent expansion of endoscopy to double clinical capacity, and consolidation of open office environments to better support collaborative working. Mental Health has seenimproved investment in recent years focusing on safer spaces, with creation of Open Mental Health hubs and crisis accommodation.
