Deputy Physiotherapy Manager for Surgical Services

Job summary

Due to maternity leave within our deputy management team we have an exciting opportunity to join the Cambridge University Hospitals Physiotherapy management team as a Band 8a Deputy Manager for our Surgical services.

A fixed term or secondment opportunity for up to 12 months providing maternity leave cover has arisen. You will be expected to cover 25.5 hours per week, split between the deputy manager role (18.75 hours) and a clinical role (6.75 hours) comensurate with their skills sets.

We are looking for a highly experienced Physiotherapist who has knowledge of working in an acute NHS trust and supporting service delivery. You will be passionate about developing staff and the services we provide as a physiotherapy team. You will have experience in recruitment and service transformation as these form pivotal aspects of the role.

In turn we can offer you an experienced team of highly skilled physiotherapists and support workers who work in a variety of areas in the acute trust including eg. surgery, orthopaedics and amputees. Our service is pivotal to the flow of patients through the hospital and we have a supportive network of Allied Health Professionals. This role will allow you to progress and shape our services and continue to develop a robust physiotherapy provision for our patients.

Main duties of the job

You will lead the Physiotherapy teams under their Superintendent service and provide local management of these teams the trust.

You will lead the local Physiotherapy teams and work closely with all staff to ensure effective and high quality services, maximising the use of resources within an agreed financial framework alongside the direction of the Physiotherapy Manager. You will play a pivotal role in developing services and facilitating change and will engage other staff both within and outside the Trust in collaborative working.

Deputise for the physiotherapy manager and assist in taking responsibility for the service, staff and other resources for the physiotherapy department within the Trust. To produce reports for clinical governance, recommendations for development and progress of the physiotherapy service.

Provide professional leadership and direction for the service setting high personal standards and maintaining an up to date knowledge of physiotherapy practice and ensuring the continued development of staff. The post holder will assist and provide advice to the Manager of Physiotherapy.

If fulfilling a clinical role: performing advanced specialist physiotherapeutic assessment and treatment, including the analysis of medical investigations of patients presenting with a wide and complex range of conditions. They may have co-existing, diverse medical, neurological and musculoskeletal presentations and complex physical and psychological conditions.
