Orthopaedic Sister/Charge Nurse

Job summary

A unique opportunity has arisen for a band 6 to support the ward manager and the team on Ward C8 Orthopeadics. The role will deputise for the ward manager in their absence and support them with leadership and management of the ward area.

This is a fantastic role to develop your nursing career further in leadership and management. We welcome applications from experienced band 5 register nurses or junior sister/charge nurses with a drive for improvement and leading change.

Main duties of the job

You will support the ward manager and matron in aspects of ward management in order to achieve a quality and standard of care and service, oversee the ward in the absence of the ward manager, take the lead role in clinical care, maintaining high standards in coordinating individualised programmes of care.

You will also act as a key worker and role model for service users and staff, supporting and / supervising care delivered, ensuring high standards are achieved including infection control.

Support staff with training and development.

Review incidences, complaints and support with any learning for improvement and/or share good practice and feedback.

You will be clinically responsible for the co-ordination and implementation of effective Orthopaedic care. You will liaise with other professionals and with those providing support services.

The post requires effective communication and an ability to provide support to the clinical lead in their area of work.
