Job summary

We have an exciting opportunity within the MSK business unit as Directorate support manager.

As a key member of the operational team, reporting to the deputy operations manager, the post holder will be responsible for managing limited and defined service areas within the Directorate for Trauma and Orthopaedics. Primarily working with and analysing data to produce reports which will support the planning, development, implementation of service improvement and effective use of resource to delivery national waiting times targets.

The role will be integral in monitoring the PTL and outpatient utilisation, reviewing QSIS and PALS concerns and managing the harm review process for the Directorate. Monitoring key local and National targets with an emphasis on service improvement.

Provide cross cover across the Directorate as required.

Main duties of the job

You will be responsible for managing the administrative and clerical teams to provide an effective support service to the clinical teams and ensure effective use of resource (theatre and clinic capacity).

You will be responsible for delivery of the PTL and ensuring effective use of theatre and clinic capacity in line with appropriate policies to ensure delivery of national performance standards and waiting times. This will require knowledge and understanding of national performance standards and theatre / clinic scheduling processes and RTT and GIRFT standards. As part of a dynamic operational team you will be integral to developing and implementing improvement programs and staff engagement initiatives.
