Job summary
We are pleased to offer an exciting opportunity for a Clinical Fellow Core in Teenage & Young Adult (TYA) Oncology and Haematology, Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. This post is to commence 05 August 2026 until 03 August 2027.This role is ideal for doctors considering a career in oncology, haematology, paediatric oncology, general practice or palliative care, and for those wishing to develop a specialist interest in TYA oncology.Applicants should have a strong foundation in general and acute medicine, with six months' experience in oncology, haematology or paediatric oncology. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential, and experience working with young people is desirable.
Main duties of the job
This post is based on the Teenage and Young Adult ward (C9), working alongside a Clinical Fellow Higher, Specialist Registrars and Consultants, providing day-to-day care for inpatients aged 14-24 receiving chemotherapy, radiotherapy, stem cell transplants and palliative care, and support outpatient treatment via the TYA day unit in a supervised role.There will be opportunities to attend clinics and participate in multidisciplinary team meetings. Involvement in research, audit and quality improvement projects is encouraged. Applicants must have at least six months' acute medicine experience, 12 months working in the NHS, experience managing oncology or haematology emergencies, and excellent communication skills.Full GMC registration and licence to practise are required at the time of application. This post does not carry Deanery training recognition and may suit those undertaking an F3 post.

The applicant must have demonstrable skills in listening, reading, writing and speaking in English that enable effective communication about medical topics with patients and colleagues, as set out in the GMC's Good Medical Practice (2013). Non-UK applicants must possess the IELTS/OET exam before obtaining a GMC licence to practice.
