Senior Physiotherapist in Stroke Rehabilitation

Job summary

The physiotherapy service is looking for an experienced individual to join our stroke rehabilitation inpatient therapy team. This static job opportunity is available as a permanent role.

You will be working with patients in both the acute stroke unit (R2) and the Lewin Neurological Rehabilitation ward. You will gain vast experience in the assessment, rehabilitation and discharge planning of patients under your care.

You will work with the team leads in planning, co-ordinating, delivering and evaluating the Physiotherapy Service provided to neurologically impaired patients throughout Addenbrooke's hospital on a day-to-day basis.

Main duties of the job

To perform advanced physiotherapeutic assessment of patients with diverse medical, neurological and musculoskeletal presentations and complex physical and psychological conditions, to provide a diagnosis and develop and deliver an individualised treatment programme.

To hold responsibility for own caseload and be responsible for a defined area of the service or a particular patient type, working unsupervised. Access to advice and support from senior physiotherapists is available if required.

To undertake all aspects of clinical duties as an autonomous practitioner.

To undertake delegated management roles in support of the clinical team.

To supervise, educate and assess the performance of physiotherapy students, this would be to a graduate standard and involve working with universities to ensure the standard of practice and teaching meets the standards set by the degree level qualification.

To undertake evidence-based practice, audit and research projects to further own and team's clinical practice within each rotation. Make recommendations to clinical lead for changes to practice by the team. May lead implementation of specific changes to practice or contribute to service protocols.

To maintain respiratory physiotherapy competency in order to assess and treat patients effectively, and to assist in the training of junior members of staff to a level of agreed competency.
