Support Nurse Uro-Oncology

Job summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate nurse to join our team as a Band 6 Specialist Support Nurse within the Uro-Oncology service.

You will be based within Oncology outpatients but will also be involved with inpatient care. You will work closely with the band 7, band 6 and the wider multidisciplinary team to deliver holistic, patient-centred care to individuals with prostate and bladder cancer throughout their cancer pathway.

You will play a key role in coordinating care from the point of referral, through active treatment, and during the transition from treatment to best supportive care. You will play an important part in ensuring patients and their families feel informed, supported and educated about their diagnosis.

You will be supported with site specific training to enable you to practise with increased confidence and autonomy.

Main duties of the job

You will be responsible for managing a caseload of patients whilst co-ordinating and streamlining their care.

Responsible for providing specialist advice and support about symptoms and side effects of treatment

Competent in undertaking a telephone triage with appropriate escalation and follow up plans

To keep up to date with developments in cancer care and treatments
