Job summary
Applications are invited for a Specialty Registrar (ST5/ST6+) in Paediatric Emergency Medicine/Paediatric Intensive Care Unitat Addenbrooke's Hospital, part of Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
There are two posts available to commence from 05 August 2026 until 03 August 2027.
The successful candidates will spend six months based in the Emergency Department and six months in the Paediatric Intensive Care Unit.
Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is the Major Trauma Centre for the East of England region and provides excellent training.
Main duties of the job
These posts are recognised for training for the sub-specialty of Paediatric Emergency Medicine by the Royal College of Emergency Medicine. To be eligible for this post, you must hold a National Training Number in Emergency Medicine and must currently be in a higher specialist training post. Applications from people who are not in a UK training programme will not be shortlisted.
Doctors currently in an Emergency Medicine Higher Specialist Training post in the East of England can complete this post as part of their rotation, adding an extra year to their training programme.
Candidates outside of the East of England Emergency Medicine Training Programme are eligible to apply to their home Deanery for Out of Programme for Training (OOPT) for approval to have the post recognised for training. Candidates without OOPT approval may be considered, providing they have the appropriate level of experience.
Full Registration and a Licence to Practice with the General Medical Council at point of application is required.

The applicant must have demonstrable skills in listening, reading, writing and speaking in English that enable effective communication about medical topics with patients and colleagues, as set out in the GMC's Good Medical Practice (2013). Non-UK applicants must possess the IELTS/OET exam before obtaining a GMC licence to practice.
