Dermatology Clinical Nurse Specialist

Job summary

We are seeking an experienced Adult Medical Dermatology Clinical Nurse Specialist to join our team to assist with the long-term management of patients with chronic skin disease - who are treated with systemic, biologic, and isotretinoin medication.

This role requires specialist knowledge and expertise in dermatology, with the ability to work independently while contributing to the wider multi-disciplinary team. Our nurse-led clinics currently include psoriasis, eczema, hidradenitis suppurativa, alopecia areata, and acne. Within these clinics responsibilities include: drug monitoring, repeat prescription management, disease management with treatment plan adjustments, and patient education. The post also involves providing advice and support to colleagues, including the delivery of specialist education.

Applicants must be qualified as independent nurse prescriber and already have experience in dermatology managing this patient group. A strong commitment to integrated patient care is essential, particularly as new treatments become available within the NHS. The successful candidate will be able to keep up with increasing demand and support a growing cohort of patients, ensuring continuity of care and timely access to treatments.

We are looking for a candidate who demonstrates motivation for the specialty, and who will thrive in the variety of nurse-led clinics we provide.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be a recognised expert in the specialty, responsible for assessing, developing and implementing specialist nursing care, undertake specialist nurse clinics and drug monitoring.

Responsible for providing specialist advice and support to and liaising with other staff. This includes the provision of specialist education and training for other staff and students.

Responsible for implementing a defined integrated approach to patient care encompassing new treatments and evidence based care.

Required to undertake research and lead clinical audits in own specialist area.
