Job summary
We have an exciting secondment/fixed term opportunity within our Colorectal Nursing Service. We are looking for a compassionate, and experienced Band 6 Support Nurse to join us in delivering high-quality, patient-centred care across the complete colorectal surgical and diagnostic pathway.
In this role you will work across the 2-week wait (2WW) lower GI diagnostic service, as well as benign and malignant colorectal pathways. You will support patients and their families at all stages -- from diagnosis through treatment -- ensuring timely, coordinated care in line with national and local cancer targets.
You will receive training to run nurse-led follow-up clinics and collaborate closely with the administrative team to help keep patient pathways efficient and meet target timelines. You will also contribute to the growth and delivery of our Enhanced Recovery After Surgery (ERAS) programme for colorectal patients.
You should have a clear understanding of colorectal cancer pathways and lower GI diagnostics. We value strong communication and organisational skills, and require someone able to work both independently and as part of a small, dedicated team. The ability to handle sensitive conversations with empathy and professionalism is also essential.
